Lisa Schwandt began her piano studies in a small Missouri town at an early age. As a teenager, she played for high school choir groups and at the Crocker Baptist Church, where she attended. It was through these opportunities that her love for music developed. During her high school years, she gave piano lessons to younger students as a way to earn money. She had no idea that forty years later, she would return to her passion as a music educator with a successful piano program.
Today, Lisa is a retired, public school educator and has an established piano studio in her home. Her youngest student is three years old, and her oldest is sixty-five. She has many students with special learning circumstances that brings her much satisfaction and accomplishment.
As a previous classroom Teacher, Elementary School Principal and Assistant School Superintendent in Human Resources, Lisa has come to recognize that students need an ongoing connection with someone to encourage and support them through opportunities that build their confidence and self-worth. So, in April 2010, she was inspired to develop Smarty Pants Adventures, a piano program for four and five year old students.
Her motto "From a Relationship to Rhythm" is the premise for the development of a music series that captured her vision. The project was designed for both the teacher and the learner as they set-forth time together to learn. Piano music became the catalyst for the adventure.
Lisa believes that music can be the special ingredient that helps communicate love and self-worth through supportive relationships. The benefits are numerous and positive, life-long attributes which can shape the lives of many for generations to come
